Events

Melanie is home now that the legislative session is over.  She will be attending events and activities to meet the people she represented in the 40th district. If you have an event or function you would like her to attend, just contact us to schedule her attendance.  Whether it's to speak to your club, a neighborhood group, or come to an event and meet people - we'd like to hear from you.
She’s a regular attendee at groups she belongs to:  Lions Club weekly luncheons, VFW Post #56 monthly meetings, Ft Leavenworth Rod & Gun Club monthly meetings.

MAY

• 26 May – Transportation Bill signing at Kansas Speedway
• 29 – 30 May – Helping the VFW hand out Buddy Poppies on Ft Leavenworth
• 31 May - Memorial Day ceremonies at the VA National Cemetery and Ft Leavenworth.

JUNE

• 2 June – Guest at Whittier Club Social
• 5 June – Guest Speaker at Leavenworth Democrats First Saturday Breakfast Leavenworth Public Library 9 AM
• 9 June – Attend Ft Leavenworth Rod and Gun Club meeting
• 10 June – Attend VFW Post #56 monthly membership meeting
• 25 June at 5pm is the Art Attack at the Heritage Center on Delaware, lots of local artists display their art.
• 25 Jun at 5:30 pm is the Meals on Wheels benefit at the Riverfront Community Center
• 26 Jun at 7 am is a pancake breakfast at the CW Parker Carousel museum, the Leav County Humane Society will also be there with some kittens to adopt

• 26 Jun at 5 pm is the annual German Fest at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Broadway
• 26 Jun at 5:30 pm is the "Arts in Motion Juneteenth Celebration" at the Sunflower Community Center, 1708 5th Ave.  Will be gospel music, skits, recognition of candidates, etc.
• 26 Jun at 5:30 pm is the "family fun night" at the CW Parker Carousel Museum.
• 27 Jun at 4:30 pm is the Community Choral Festival at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 2101 10th Ave.
  

JULY

• 4 Jul from noon to dark is the Easton 4th of July Festival.  There will be contests like the hay bale throwing contest and lawn mower races.  There is a parade at 5 pm and fireworks at dark along with other carnival games, kids activities throughout the day.
• 8 Jul at 7 pm is the VFW Post 56 monthly meeting. 
• 14 Jul at 5:30 pm is the Chamber Coffee at KCKCC on Cherokee Street
• 14 Jul at 5:30 pm is the steak dinner and then at 7 pm is the Fort Leavenworth Rod & Gun Club meeting
• 15 Jul at 10 am Attend a flag presentation on Fort Riley, it is tentative
• 23 Jul at 5 pm is the monthly "Art Attack" at the Heritage center
• 24 Jul is the annual "Loft Tour" of downtown Leav.  It is usually very popular

August

• 1 Aug is the annual St. Casmir Beef dinner
•  4 Aug is the Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Council Coffee, location TBA
• 7 Aug at 10 am is PAIR day at Fort Leavenworth
• 11 Aug at 5:30 pm is the Chamber Coffee at the Heritage Center
• 14 Aug at 4:30 pm is the Leav-Ft Leav Welcome Home Party at Haymarket Square
• 20 Aug is a welcome home picnic for the 705th MP BN returning from Iraq
• 27 Aug at 5 pm is the "Art Attack" at the Heritage Center

September

• 8 Sep at 5:30 pm is the Chamber Coffee at Cushing Hospital
• 9 Sep at 7 pm is a kick off concert for the First City Festival, the Republican and Democratic ladies clubs will be selling pie.
• 10-11 Sep is the First City Festival
• 25 Sep, 6 pm is the Premier Title Charity Gala at JW Crancers, 530 Delaware.  Black tie, $75 per person.  You can sponsor a table.  Money goes to disadvantaged children.

October

• 6 Oct at 5 pm is the Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Council, location TBA
• 9 Oct at 9 am is "Autumn in the Grove" at Gilman Rd & Hwy 7.  Annual Lansing festival.
• 13 Oct at 5:30 pm is the Chamber Coffee at Medicalodges
